This was such a fun opportunity…Anytime you combine wonderful models, a beautiful store, and SHOPPING, it is a dream-come-true! This shoot was done in collaboration with Tra’ Chic Boutique. This adorable boutique is owned by Tracye Weeks, who dreamed of opening her own store after a successful, decade-long, career in corporate America. “I thought to myself, what else is there that I want to say I have done in my life when I get old?”, she said, “And owning my own business was one thing I hadn’t done, so I started to look for entrepreneurial opportunities and decided on fashion, because it is a passion of mine”. Part of her philosophy includes making fashion affordable for everyone and every budget. Without sacrificing quality, over 99% of the styles in her store are under $40! I also was able to ask Tracye a little bit about the things she loves, and some of her favorite trends. If you live in Fredricksburg, be sure to stop by and see all the cute things that are available!

What makes Tra’ Chic different from other clothing stores?
Tra’ Chic was built upon the idea of young, professional women who still want to look trendy but are also budget conscious and also want quality for their money. Other than price point, customer service is what really differentiates Tra’ Chic. I am definitely a helper and love to help my customers who are preparing for an event or just need to change up their wardrobe. I like for them to be able to come in relax, and let us style them and they know that they won’t break the bank with just one shirt.
What is your favorite part of being a business owner? Most challenging part?
I love the fact that I have no boundaries when it comes to expressing my creativity, and that I have free range to be creative and innovative. I get to write my own book, so to speak. The most challenging part is the unknown, you can’t predict who comes in on what day or if you will have what that person is looking for specifically.
I know you have several non-profits that you work with, right? Hope House if I remember correctly? Tell me more about how you/the boutique are involved in the community.
I like to look for any opportunity I can to give back, even if it’s not much as a new business, it’s still something, I say. We have also worked with the Hospital with fundraisers and donate clothing to local non profit organizations that help women get back in the workforce.
What are the hot trends and colors for Fall 2015?
Fall is not just for gray and black. My three favorite colors to add into your fall wardrobe this season are Mustard, Wine and Olive. I am all about versatility, and you can mix these colors together or use them as accents to you blacks and grays.
What is one piece of clothing you think every girl should have in their closet?
Every girls should have a duster (a long cardigan) in her closet especially for fall. It adds chicness to any wardrobe but also can help us camouflage those areas we aren’t so confident about. You can also wear them over dresses, pants, jeans and even belt them.
What is the favorite piece of clothing in your closet right now?
My absolute favorite piece in my closet right now if my oversized denim shirt. It is so versatile, comfortable and fits so well. I wear it over dresses with a knot in the front, with shorts, with skirts and use is as an overlay piece. I would wear it every day if I could 🙂
