Girls on the Run DC 5K – June 2012

I once again had the honor of helping my good friend Emily Weiss photograph the Girls on the Run DC 5K.  The Girls on the Run program encourages preteen girls to develop self-respect and healthy lifestyles through running.  Each semester, girls in the program are involved in lessons which teach life skills through group activities, running games, and workouts.  At semester’s end, they participate in a 5k race as a group.  I am always inspired by the determination I see as these girls make their way through the race and to the finish line.  And along side they have running buddies, family, and friends to cheer them along!  It is such an amazing morning filled with laughter, cheering, and a sense of accomplishment!  Here’s a little peek of today’s race at Anacostia Park…
